Caviahue shaken by more than 300 aftershocks

By tectonic arrangements, nearly 300 seismic movements occurred in the area near the Copahue volcano. The strongest was recorded around 4:13 in the morning of this Friday.

"A volcano-tic type was recorded, badociated with rock fracturing, and a total of 343 events were recorded," Chile's National Geological and Mining Service reported.

The strongest reached 3.5 on the Mercalli scale with a depth of 7.53 km.

"I listened and communicated immediately with the agencies concerned, we discovered the state of the situation and they informed us of the seismic swarm of rock dwellings," said the mayor of Caviahue- Copahue, Oscar Mansegosa.

According to the trans-Andean authorities, the activity could be maintained in the coming days. However, the Copahue volcano will keep its alert level in green.
