Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has urged citizens to defend sovereignty. He did it via Twitter. In the social network, he writes: "Today, February 23, the population is mobilized in Caracas and in all the cities of the country, we go down to the street to defend our independence, with conscience and joy. triumph here, Venezuela Respects! "
There is already a call for the defense of the government, according to Nahum Fernández, head of the PSUV organization in Caracas. The mobilization will converge towards the palace of Miraflores, seat of the executive power.
Maduro's message comes at a time when closed checkpoints are trying to get trucks of food and medicine, an action coordinated by Juan Guaidó, the self-proclaimed interim president. The action was considered interventionist by the Maduro government, which denounces the United States as a factor of destabilizing acts that could lead to an alternative to the military invasion.
