Venezuela has closed border bridges with Colombia and there are incidents

Venezuela closed on Saturday the three bridges that unite Colombia to a crucial day of political crisis in the country and in the midst of announcements of provision of humanitarian aid.

The Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, announced the temporary closure of the entrance to the bridges of Simón Bolívar, Unión and Santander, the three main points of access to Venezuelan territory from Colombian soil.

"The Bolivarian government informs the population that, because of the serious and illegal threats that the Colombian government has made to La Paz and the sovereignty of Venezuela, it has taken the decision to temporarily and completely close the Simón Bolívar, Santander and Unión "Rodriguez wrote on his Twitter account, which in turn was published on the official account of President Nicolás Maduro.

The tension has increased in recent days with the announcement of the delivery of nearly 300 tonnes of humanitarian aid – mainly from the United States – for this Saturday, February 23, at various border points.

For this reason, Maduro, who denies that there is in his country a "humanitarian crisis", he had ordered this week to close the borders with the islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao and with Brazil.
