The international airport of Rosario (AIR) closed last year with a record: in December, more than five thousand foreign tourists arrived in the city, the largest number in decades. In the last month of 2018, a total of 5,159 people landed from abroad, 26% more than during the same period in 2017. Last year, the number Non-resident tourists who landed at Fisherton were 35,000 people, up 51% year-on-year. Among the reasons for this phenomenon is the devaluation of the peso, which made arrival in the city more attractive to foreigners, with much lower prices in dollars and euros.

The data come from the latest survey of international tourism, which measures monthly the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC), based on information from all airports in the country.

The Rosario Municipal Bank Foundation was responsible for weighing the indicators and highlighting the balance achieved by the RIA since the national agency measures these variables.

In December 2018, 5,159 foreign tourists arrived in local aerospace, which represents a growth of 26.6% over one year, compared to the same month in 2017.

Figures from the last month of last year were not an isolated phenomenon. Throughout the year, 35,000 foreign tourists arrived at AIR, an increase of 51% over the previous year, exceeding the major airports in the country.

On the other hand, Ezeiza and Aeroparque recorded a negative output compared to the previous year, while in the other airports, it was positive. This partly explains the phenomenon of decentralization currently experienced by air transport in the country, a policy that the government of Mauricio Macri described as an "aeronautical revolution".

According to Indec data, 295,000 non-resident tourists arrived in Argentina last December, with an interannual increase of 13%. In the accumulated annual total reached 2 million 760,000 non-resident tourist arrivals and recorded an increase of 7.5%.

Ezeiza and Aeroparque concentrated 89.5% of non – resident tourist arrivals in the twelve months of the year, with an interannual increase of 4.6%.

Brazilian tourist arrivals stood out, with 68,000 people, an inter-annual increase of 24.7%. In second place were the 63,000 European tourists who arrived, which grew by 7.4% in one year. Then 56,000 tourists from the "Rest of the Americas" group followed with a 9.4% increase per belt.

In the rest of domestic airports, including Rosario, inflow of receptive tourism recorded an increase of 38.8% over the same month of the previous year. The main countries of origin were the "rest of America" countries, Brazil and Chile.

At the same time, the number of Argentinean tourists who left Rosario to pbad through the air rose to 15,615 pbadengers during the month, down 7.3% year-on-year. This contraction is much lower than the previous months.

In this regard, the Foundation pointed out that, although the total flow of pbadengers in Rosario is very far from that of other airports, "it was observed that the inter-annual variation of pbadengers was greater than that of Cordoba and Portugal. Mendoza in terms of outbound tourism ".

According to AIR data, in 2018, a total of 870,000 pbadengers arrived and departed. That was 18% more than in 2017, while there were 740,000 pbadengers. It was to reach a million pbadengers, but the crisis prevented it.
