Christ the Redeemer: They arrested a truck driver who wanted to smuggle $ 1 million worth of cell phones

Exactly 100 new cell phones were seized this Monday at the Argentinian customs of Cristo Redentor. The merchandise was hidden in the cab of a truck whose driver had been stopped.

The incident occurred yesterday at around 4:30 pm, when customs operator Claudio Javier Romero detected something striking in the driver's cab images recorded by the scanner.

From there, a physical check of the premises was carried out and it was discovered that, in a small space under the driver's seat, there were a hundred boxes containing new cell phones.

The stopped driver has been identified as being Arturo Alejandro Castro Palacios, of Chilean nationality and domiciled in Los Andes. The truck belongs to the company "Transportes Abocentro", also from Chile.

Castro Palacios was put at the disposal of the Federal Court No. 1, in charge of Walter Bento. In addition, the Federal Prosecutor number 1, María Alejandra Obregón, intervened.
