In the Lufthansa case, the anonymous pbadenger had to take a round trip flight to Seattle between Oslo and Frankfurt in April 2016. However, he skipped the last leg and departed from Frankfurt to Berlin with another ticket. Its total cost was 657 euros, or 743 dollars. The airline should have paid € 2,769, or $ 3,133. He seeks the difference plus interests.

A victory for Lufthansa could affect "reinstated" travelers, who can use the solution to save hundreds of dollars per flight.

Until now, the courts have not been on the side of the airlines in this battle.

In fact, a court of first instance in Germany has already ruled in favor of the pbadenger, but Lufthansa is appealing the decision.
