They performed in Texas the oldest man in the modern era of the death penalty

The state of Texas executed Billie Coble on Thursday, jailed since 1989 for the murder of his brother and his wife's parents. At age 70, he became the oldest person to lose his life because of the death penalty in the modern era of this type of punishment.

According to the Texas Criminal Justice Department, Coble was reportedly dead after receiving a lethal injection at Huntsville Prison. Local media reported that the detainee's son, a friend and daughter-in-law badaulted witnesses a few minutes before the execution and were to be deported from the courtroom.

The triple homicide

In 1989, Billie and Karen had been married for less than a year when she had filed for divorce. The man decided to punish her by killing Robert and Zelda, his in-laws, and Bobby, his brother-in-law. When his wife returned from work, he found his four children tied up and gagged. Coble was waiting for her to tell him that she had killed her family before kidnapping her. The car escape included police pursuit and ended with a vehicle accident, although both survived.

Violence and badual abuse

Billie Coble was brought to trial where he was found guilty of violence and abuse against his ex-partners and daughters. The jury collected the exhibits and sentenced him to death.

Coble became the second prisoner executed in 2019 in Texas this Thursday and the third in the entire country. Since the Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976 in the United States. 1,493 prisoners were executed in the country, of whom 560 were killed in Texas.
