Israel bombed Hamas positions in response to launching explosive balloons from Gaza

The Israeli army has shelled two Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip, a security source said Sunday. The attack took place after the launch of balloons with "explosive devices" from the Palestinian enclave to Israel.

The attacks took place on Saturday east of Bureij and east of the city of Rafah and they did not make any victims.

The attack was made after "the launch from the Gaza Strip to Israel of a train of balloons carrying an explosive device", the Israeli army said in a statement. There were no casualties or damage.

On Wednesday, an Israeli plane attacked several places in the Palestinian enclave in response to an "explosive balloon" launched from the territory and who damaged a house in Israel.

For months, balloons equipped with incendiary devices and explosives have been thrown from time to time from the Gaza Strip to the south of Israel, in parallel with demonstrations and riots taking place near of the barrier that separates the Palestinian territory from Israel.
