This Friday, March 8, on the occasion of Women's Day, thousands of people from Mendoza will focus on San Martín and José Vicente Zapata to take part in the march of the 3rd International Women's Strike. For this reason and through a draft declaration, they ask that the pbadage of the collective be free to allow them to participate in the rally organized by the different feminist movements.

The document bearing the signature of the senator justicialiste María Fernanda Lacoste proposes that the executive power, through the Ministry of Public Services, provides free for this day on all lines and short and medium distance routes.

The route of the walk will be via San Martin Avenue, to Las Heras. From there, it will go to the street Patricias Mendocinas and will end in Rivadavia, where the scene will be prepared.

This day commemorates the struggle of women for their participation, on an equal footing with often fewer opportunities than men, in society and in their full development as a person. The first celebration of International Women's Day took place on 19 March 1911 in Europe, particularly in Germany, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland. Since then, this commemoration has been extended to other countries and continents.

In 1972, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the International Women's Year of 1975, and in 1977 invited all States to declare, in accordance with their historical traditions and national customs, the International Day of Rights. of the woman and the woman. International peace

Although Argentina adheres to this statement and it is already celebrated on March 8 at the sociocultural level, the International Women's Movement has taken a different turn from this event and has called the Women's Strike, with the proposal to make visible and raise awareness about the situation of women around the world.

"Our province has not lost sight of the membership and mobilization as well as a commemorative march of this struggle will take place in the city of Mendoza on Friday 8 as part of the Third International Strike of women (PIM), raised by women, it is proposed to raise historical claims: unpaid domestic work, invisibility of childcare, badual harbadment, violence both in the household and in the workplace, media and institutional, feminicides they do not stop, access to the application of the protocols in force on violations covered by the civil code and to a rapid debate on the IVE law", says Lacoste in the project.

As stated in the letter, according to official data from the Indec and the Statistics Directorate of Mendoza, unemployment has increased by two points in the last quarter of 2017. Women under 29 years are the most affected by the problem of lack of employment. In 2016, a rate of 9.5% was recorded and in the third quarter of 2017, it rose by nearly two points to 11.4%. Each year, each mobilization adds new members, both individually and collectively, to women. However, some women feel unable because of various conditions, be they professional, economic, family or couple.

"For all that we consider timely and relevant to facilitate to all the women of our province who wish to accompany this date to the extent of what it symbolizes, avoiding any of the obstacles that it may encounter: it can be economical for the mobility of the different localities of Mendoza towards the place of concentration ", said the senator.
