Thirteen men died and four were wounded on Saturday after an armed attack at a nightclub in Salamanca, Guanajuato state, Mexico.
The incident occurred in the early morning when several heavily armed men arrived at the place called La Playa and opened fire on everyone present. When the shooting ended, the killers escaped aboard a vehicle.
According to international agencies, thirteen people lost their lives as a result of the attack. However, the figure could continue to rise. For their part, the wounded are three men and one woman who were taken to a hospital in the area.
The main pipeline of the public company Petróleos Mexicanos in Guanajuato crosses the city of Salamanca, which has resulted in the emergence of different bands dedicated to the theft of fuel. After recording losses of about $ 3 billion, the government launched an aggressive police and military operation against criminal organizations operating in the region.
The attack occurred a few hours after President Andrés Manuel López Obrador made a working visit to that state, during which he organized a public event on Friday afternoon.
At the end of January, the authorities seized a blanket hanging from a bridge in Salamanca with a text calling on the president to dismiss the soldiers who are fighting the fuel traffickers in the area. The message was awarded to Juan Antonio Yépez, said "El Marro" and designated as the alleged perpetrator of a poster dedicated to this activity.
