On the night of Wednesday, March 6, two gunmen fired on Carmen Adriana Méndez Sánchez while they were walking in the El Rodeo district, east of Cali. Witnesses and authorities delivered him for dead, but the inexplicable occurred: she reacted by lifting her body.
The woman was first shot in the left leg, then the other man was attacked again. They both walked away when they thought I was dead. Area neighbors who went to help confirmed that there were no vital signs. So they called the police instead of looking for an ambulance.
When the police patrol arrived, they again checked that there was no vital sign. They therefore reported the homicide to the investigative body of the prosecutor's office for the body to be removed.
The forensic team has dispersed the area, collected evidence of the attack and prepared the bag for protection and removal of the body. About 50 minutes had pbaded since the event until then, witnesses said.
When they were ready to lift the body, the 33-year-old woman moved her arms and sat down to ask for help, before the astonished eyes of authorities and observers.
The procedure was suspended and they verified that she was still alive. She was immediately transferred to the hospital Primitivo Iglesias. CTI agents said that this had never happened to them and the community immediately began talking about a resurrection.
However, according to El Tiempo's experts, the woman may have had an episode of catalepsy, a sudden nervous disorder characterized by immobility and stiffness of the body, which sometimes gives the impression of people without vital signs.
