Patricia Dowdy, 61, "has not met the standards of quality and professionalism of care that we expect and that Professor Hawking deserved," explained the Board of Nurses and Midwives (Nursing and Midwifery Council – NMC) in a statement posted on your website. "As a result, Ms. Dowdy will no longer be able to practice as a nurse."

Patricia Dowdy, who has held Stephen Hawking for fifteen years, was the subject of a professional suspension in March 2016.

"Ms. Dowdy has been the subject of several professional misconduct charges related to the attention she gave to Professor Stephen Hawking," said the NMC.

The nurse was accused of "financial abuse, dishonesty, failure to provide the required attention, not cooperating with the NMC and not having the required qualifications".
