The archdiocese of Managua on Saturday condemned the repressive actions of the Nicaraguan police against protesters and journalists in the capital, who also left more than 160 people in detention, including a priest, cousin of Bishop Rolando Álvarez, bishop of Nicaragua. diocese of Matagalpa.

In a statement, the archdiocese said that what had happened in the streets of Managua shows the need to solve "the national crisis" that has affected the country for 11 months.

In the same document, the Archdiocese of Managua reported that during the events that took place on Saturday afternoon, he was arrested and taken to the new legal aid office, Evaristo Vásquez, Priest Juan Domingo Gutiérrez Álvarez, Parish Vicar of the Church of San Agustín of the Central Pastoral Zone of Managua and cousin of Bishop Rolando Álvarez.
