The main author of the study on this time machine, Gordéi Lesovik, director of the quantum physics laboratory of the Moscow University of Physics and Technology, told RT in an interview to the realization of the project that several years ago seemed "incredible" "

"The time machine for quantum objects already exists and we created it in an IBM quantum computer," said Lesovik, describing the discovery as "something amazing" that no one could have imagine 10 years ago.

"Our main idea is that every system can be sent to the past, for which we need a supersystem," said the scientist. Thus, specialists have managed to "change the direction of evolution" of a small quantum system with the help of an IBM quantum computer.

The scientist points out that this is a time machine, but only for quantum systems. In this context, he joked that if we want to see a device "in the manner of Herbert Wells" – a British writer who popularized the idea of ​​time travel – we must still wait a long time because such a machine will not appear "soon, or maybe ever."

The team plans to continue the project and develop more efficient algorithms for this so-called "temporal regression". "Our algorithm can be updated and used to test programs written for quantum computers and to eliminate noise and errors," said Andrei Lebedev, one of the authors of the study.
