The Ministry of Defense of Russia released Tuesday images of the latest tests of his new clbad Borei nuclear submarine, which has the ability to launch ballistic missiles (SLBM), as indicated by the chain RT.
In the pictures you can see a static Borei in the sea and then navigate. Then there is an attack submarine and a Lada type diesel propulsion, with lower performance and a different role.
The "Project 955" submarine, or Borei clbad, is the most modern "SNBN" (submarine ship with nuclear ballistic missile capability, in English) of the Russian fleet.
Four have been built to date, three of which Yury Dolgoruky, Vladimir Monomakh and Aleksandr Nevsky, have already entered into service. The fourth, presented in the video, is currently conducting sea trials that would be under the name of Knyaz Vladimir.
In total, the Kremlin has ordered the construction of eight of these ships, but could bring the order to ten. The last should be launched in 2027.
According to the chain RTcAda Borei will be armed with 16 Bulava missiles with a maximum range of 8,000 kilometers and a manageable military head.that is to say that they can change course in their final approach to the goal.
In addition, The Borei are quieter than the Delta III, Delta IV and Typhoon submarines that should be replaced.
The SSBN is part of the call "nuclear triad", supplemented by the possibility of launching atomic weapons by land and air, as in the case of Tupolev Tu-22Me deployed in Crimea.
In the case of submarines, the difficulty of their detection allows them to stealthily approach their targets, which in theory allows global reach and makes the ISDN a strategic weapon.
Currently, only the United States, Russia, China and India have the "nuclear triad", while UK and France deploy SSBN. North Korea and Israel are also suspected of doing so.
In a context of strong tensions with the West, Russia has launched in recent years a modernization program for its armed forces, in particular nuclear ballistic missile systems which constitute its strategic arsenal of deterrence.
But the process has also reached its submarines, many of them went into service at the time of the Soviet Union, as well as in the case of its planes and tanks.
