In 2004 and 2005, Galeano doctors performed two surgeries on a child who had been wrongly diagnosed as "total and incurable deafness". Because of this, the child has lost a heard.

At the age of two, the child began to have behavioral disorders. His public health pediatrician decided to refer him to private specialists. They concluded that he had a "Total and incurable deafness" after "a single test of auditory evoked potentials".

For this reason, at Complejo Hospitalario de Vigo, he underwent two operations to introduce an implant, which he did not really need. They have unquestionably badumed private medical reports and "Without exhausting the means of diagnosis". It was then that they placed an implant in one of the ears and for that they emptied it.

In late 2016, a teacher from the Ourense school in Galicia discovered that the child was suffering from an autistic disorder instead of a deafness. The woman is a specialist in language and hearing.

Today, 15 years after the operations, the doctors of the Health Service of Galicia (Sergas) must compensate the family of the child of 200 000 euros, against 150 000 euros initially fixed by a court of first instance in Ourense.

The High Court of Justice of Galicia stated: "We are confronted with a clear badumption of misdiagnosis due to a misinterpretation of the results of the auditory evoked potential test of its time. were not excluded, if necessary, by means of additional psychological, neurological or audiometric tests ".
