The British company attributed the error to the German company WDL Aviation, which flew on behalf of British Airways. As they said, They presented an incorrect flight plan. The pilot complied with the flight plan for Edinburgh, as did the air traffic personnel. Nobody noticed anything.

According to Cooke, the plane remained about two and a half hours on the Edinburgh runway before flying to its original destination and complained that during this period you could not access the bathrooms and that snacks were quickly over.

His Tran, a Twitter user who said he was on the plane, joked that, "Although this is an interesting concept, I do not think anyone on board has signed up for this mysterious travel lottery"
