Washington reacted immediately after the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that soldiers from that country had landed in Caracas over the weekend. In this regard, US President Donald Trump urged Moscow to leave Venezuelan territory.
"Russia must leave," said the president at a meeting at the White House with Fabiana Rosales, wife of Juan Guaidó, recognized by the United States and more than 50 countries as interim president of Venezuela .
In this context, Trump again insisted that his administration had "all options on the table" to facilitate the departure of Nicolás Maduro.
For its part, the Russian government badured that it was sending its personnel "in strict compliance" with the Venezuelan Constitution and within the framework of a bilateral military cooperation agreement.
