Detainee brutally beat lawyer in full hearing

Nail lawyer who was in the middle of an audience was brutally beaten by a prisoner. The man, identified as William Green, was reduced in seconds by the court's security staff.

The incident occurred in Broward County, Florida, while public defender Julie Chase participated in a hearing to obtain the bail of an inmate. In the middle of the court proceedings, a detainee waiting for his turn in front of the judge, Jackie Powell, rose from his seat and, without saying a word, hit her on the head with her clenched fist.

The lawyer, who was standing next to the accused, stumbled and fell to the ground after the attack. Immediately, the security officers they reduced the detainee, handcuffed and removed him from the room. The man, later identified as William Green, was arrested Tuesday for hitting an employee of a mental health center.

Gordon Weeks, Broward's chief defense lawyer, said that It was a mistake of the security personnel not to have identified Green as a violent prisoner with mental disorders, and denounced a clear failure in the safety task of the professionals who worked in this place.
