MIRAMAR (Correspondent) .- On the night of Saturday, Miramar will join the Earth time, the most important voluntary action in the world promoted by the World Conservation Organization (WWF, by its acronym in English), coordinated in our country by the Wildlife Foundation Argentina, created to symbolically demonstrate that governments, businesses and individuals can work together for a living planet.
In this sense, the lights of the monuments and other emblematic spaces of the city will be extinguished between 20:30 and 21:30.
The sites developed by the municipality of General Alvarado and which will remain without lighting will be: Monument to the immigrants, Monument to the children and Monument of the centenary of Miramar, located in Costanera and in the avenue 9, Arc of General San Martin, "M" ( Costanera and 21), Monument to General Alvarado (23rd and 26th Avenue) and Cristo de la Hermandad (Costanera and 45th Street).
This campaign aims to raise awareness of climate change and its negative effects, which are increasing day by day because humanity depends on the protection of the planet.
The public awareness initiative was born in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, with the aim of involving businesses and primarily people in order to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical devices for an hour. .
The 2018 campaign numbers indicate that hundreds of millions of people in more than 7,000 cities and 188 countries and territories were part of Earth Hour.
In Argentina, 59 municipalities from 14 different provinces have officially joined this global movement.
