Italy refused entry to 64 migrants rescued at sea since Libya on Wednesday by a German humanitarian group.
The humanitarian group, Sea Eye, tweeted that 10 migrants were saved in a raft, five minors and a newborn.
The NGO added that it had collected migrants at sea in front of Zuwarah, to the west of the capital Tripoli, was unable to contact the Libyan authorities. Sea Eye has asked Italy and Malta to receive the rescue vessel, named Alan Kurdi.
However, the Italian Minister of the Interior, Matteo Salvini, known for his anti-immigrant stance, said that Italy would not open its ports to the boat.
"It is a German flag vessel, a German NGO, with a German owner, with a captain in Hamburg. He saved the migrants in Libyan waters and now asks for a port. Well, go to Hamburg, "Salvini said.
Since his arrival in the government, the leader of the right has maintained his impetus against irregular immigration and presumed to have decreased the number of arrivals on the Italian coasts by refusing to accept these boatsdespite the fact that the death rate of those who risk their lives has increased, according to UNHCR.
In 2018, one person died for 14 people rescued in the central Mediterranean, while the previous year, the count of the body indicated a disappearance for 38 entries into the EU from the Libyan soil.
"Everyone is on board and insurance in our boat", reported Sea-Eye through social networks.
So much Italy and Malta refuse to receive more rescued migrants in the Mediterranean by humanitarian groups, which led to long waits for refugees as European countries wondered who should receive them.
Two other boats that left Libya in mid-March disappeared with about 50 people each on board.
