The New Zealand police confirmed that she had filed 50 murder charges and 39 attempted murders against the Australian Brenton Tarrant, accused of perpetrating the terrorist attack in two mosques of the Christchurch city.

The authorities said, in a statement posted on social networks, that they were planning to file further charges related to armed aggression on religious sites.

Tarrant, arrested on March 15, the day he perpetrated the mbadacre, is scheduled to testify on Friday by videoconference – from Paremoremo Prison in Auckland, where he is being held – in the Superior Court of Christchurch.

At the hearing on March 16, the day after the attack, Tarrant dismissed his lawyer and said he was only going to defend himself against charges against him.

The attacker, aged 28, remains lucid and without any kind of regret, then said the lawyer Richard Peters – in a principle attributed to Tarrant – who said that the defendant did not seem mentally unstable beyond its extremist ideology.

According to the lawyer, Tarrant seeks to use the process as a speaker of his ideology.
