THE NATION
was chosen as the world's best-designed newspaper by the
Society for News Design (SND), considered the editorial design of "Pulitzer". The distinction was announced as part of the opening ceremony of the annual Journalistic Design Congress.
The category "The World's Best Designed Newspaper" is a podium of three media, in which LA NACION was chosen with the New York Times, USA, and the Sunday Times, from Britain.
The SND is the institution that brings together visual journalism professionals from around the world whose mission is to promote constant innovation in accordance with the high ethical standards of the profession. This year, 4831 entries from around the world from over a hundred different newspapers were received.
The jury that rated the Best of the World category said: "We agreed to look for consistency, surprise, good journalism and, most importantly, to consider how much a publication focused on the needs of its readers and the audience. community".
This is the third time that LA NACION is selected as a finalist of this World Cup, to which no other Argentine newspaper has gone: the previous two were in 2018 and in 2016. The ten finalists of this edition , the 40th of the institution, were The New York Times, Memphis Business Journal and The Sun Village, United States; The Guardian and The Sunday Times, Great Britain; Politico, of Belgium; Die Zeit, from Germany; La Repubblica, from Italy, and El Comercio, from Peru.
LA NACION also received a silver medal for the multiplatform production of "Los Cuadernos de las Coimas" (see separate page), eight exclusive digital indentations and two mentions of excellence for the Sunday Magazine. Thus, a way of structuring and telling visually the news of the day on all available media is consolidated.
To this distinction are added the ÑH Awards, which elected LA NACION for two consecutive years, in 2016 and in 2017, the national newspaper with the best design in Latin America.
The LA NACION design team, led by Ana Gueller, is comprised of professionals in design, visualization, computer graphics, photography and illustration. Silver medal for multiplatform coverage
