The National Geological and Mining Service of Chile (Sernageomin) has decided to issue the yellow alert for the increase of seismic activity in the area of Copahue Volcano, located at the border with Chile, at the apogee of the province of Neuquén.
As reported by Sernageomin, in the last month there have been 943 seismic events related to the fracturing of a rigid material. "The long-lasting and very long-lasting earthquakes of the last month have intensified," they said of the Chilean National Service.
The same entity warned: "Due to the characteristics observed, the occurrence of a volcanic imbalance involving minor explosions is not excluded". In addition, they insisted that people should not approach "more than 500 meters" and that, in any case, "the volcano is monitored 24 hours a day, both on the Argentine side and Chilean".
