Despite the Brexit stalemate, the UK has already removed the words "Union" and "European" from its new passports.

The UK has started issuing British pbadports without the words "European Union" on its cover on March 30as the country was expected to leave the community bloc, as confirmed on Saturday by the Ministry of the Interior.

The new pbadports have the same color and design similar to the old ones, although they eliminated the block reference, from the images that British citizens shared in social networks that have renewed the document in recent days.

A spokeswoman for the interior said the new design will be maintained from now on, even if there are still old pbadport items that will continue to be used until stocks are finished.

"There will be no differences for citizens, already using the pbadport that contains the words "European Union" or the one that does not contain. Both models will also be valid to travel, "said the source.

One of the British who already has the new document, Susan Hindle expressed surprise to the local media when receiving the pbadport.

"We are still members of the European Union. I was surprised that they made the change before our departure"said Hindle, who called the measure" futile ".

London activated Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty on March 29, 2017, He is therefore expected to leave the European Union two years after this decision.

One week before the deadline, however, Brussels granted an extension until 12 April in London ratify the exit treaty and avoid a non-negotiated break.
