As part of a joint operation carried out Federal Intelligence Agency (AFI) of Argentina and National Anti-Drug Secretariat of Paraguay (SENAD), it was possible to dismantle a strip of narco that was trying to get into a large shipment of marijuana.
The narco gang was intercepted at 5:30 pm on Sunday, April 7, by SENAD forces as it was taking the Villeta-Alberdi road, at km 17 – at the height of the Paraguayan town of Alberdi-, in the direction of the Argentine territory of which they were already quite close, more precisely in front of the province of Formosa.
In the operation, it was possible to seize 43 packages containing 995 kilograms of marijuana, those who intended for their marketing on the Argentine territory. Several mobile phones were also seized and the three trucks in which the drug traffickers traveled.
During the proceedings, 11 offenders were arrested, including two juveniles. Although the tasks were carried out jointly by the two countries, the case will remain in the hands of the Paraguayan justice, before the specialized unit n ° 5 of the fight against drug trafficking of the Office of the Prosecutor in charge of doctors. The eight Paraguayan members, seven adults and a minor, are: Blas Ramón Villalva, 29, Aldo Ramón Florentine Cabrera, 38, Roger Antonio Rodríguez Romero, 38, Jorge Raz Gonzales Soto, 44, Lucas Ignacio Bobadilla, Aged 22, Marcelo Javier Bauza, 29, Jorgelino Idefonso Candia Benitez, 55, and Mario Fernando Troche Ruiz Diaz, 16.
The Argentinians are Jorge Candia, 18, Roque Simón Escalada, 29, and Matias Ariel Aguilera, 17.
In this case, it was a truck that had left the area of Maracaná, a town close to border with Posadas (Misiones province) and was heading towards Great Otaño, to the northeast of Paraguay. From there, the criminals then tried to smuggle the drugs into Argentina.
Work in common between the AFI and the SENAD follows from an agreement signed in the year 2017 to fight organized crime – mainly drug trafficking and money laundering – in this part of the South American continent.
