The United States punished 16 Saudis for killing Jamal Khashoggi and banned them from entering the country

The United States has banned 16 Saudi nationals from entering its territory on Monday for their role in killing the journalist Jamal KhashoggiUS Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Monday.

The announcement comes as the administration of President Donald Trump is under pressure from Congress over his reaction to the badbadination at the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul last October, prompting a unprecedented international review of the kingdom's human rights record.

The statement explained that the state department has "credible information" about the participation of these people in "gross violations of human rights". For this reason, it is forbidden to enter the United States, a veto that also applies to his immediate family.

There is no member of the Royal Crown among the designated officials and citizens, although it seems Saud al-Qahtani, adviser close to the crown prince, Mohammad Bin Salman. The former counselor, also accused of torture, was fired after being sanctioned by the US Treasury for the murder of Khashoggi.

With regard to these sanctions, decreed last November, the list is almost complete, with the sole exception of Mohammed Alotaibi, consul general during the murder of the journalist.
