The world says goodbye to "Captain Optimist", a Spanish pediatrician who has encouraged children with cancer. The doctor died of the same illness he was fighting for.
The work of Antonio Javier Cepillo (36) was developed in the field of oncology of the University Hospital of Albacete.
In 2016, he confessed that he had become a cancer patient and that he was also going to fight this disease.
A year later, he received the national recognition of "Captain Optimist", awarded to doctors who humanize the profession with their vocation. The prize was a green clown nose.
The importance of this doctor was so great that Change.org asked that the University Hospital of Albacete, currently unnamed, be named Antonio Javier Cepillo, in honor of the pediatrician.
