Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Friday dismissed what he saw as threats of war and invasion by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
"A few days ago, Mr. Bolsonaro (…) said he thinks of a military invasion of Venezuela (…) the people of Venezuela rejects, united and absolutely, the threats of war and the military invasion of Jair Bolsonaro "said the chief chavist in a political act.
Maduro said the Brazilian president was supported by the United States in his plans "against Venezuela".
"What is the casus belli (reason for the war)? Are you going to invade us for what? You stole something from Venezuela to Brazil? Did Venezuela attack Brazil? With whom Bolsonaro does he count for a war? With the Brazilian people ?, With the military forces of Brazil ?, where will they come in ?, Do not you think it's crazy ?, asked the president.
Maduro described the "threats" as "very disturbing" and, in this sense, he called on the people and military forces of Brazil to "face Jair Bolsonaro's adventure and his threat of war against the Venezuela".
"Your threats will come back against you and everything you do against Venezuela will sink you (…) Jair Bolsonaro will dry up and go into oblivion, the dump of history"he continued.
The governor described his Brazilian counterpart as "fascist" and "The imitator of Hitler". "A crazy, crazy, crazy guy who came to the presidency," he added. And he also said that the intention of Bolsonaro and Donald Trump's administration was to "go to Venezuela to steal the wealth" of the oil country.
Bolsonaro, like fifty other dignitaries, dismisses Maduro as dictator and recognizes Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó as president in charge of the Caribbean country.
