A magnitude 6.8 earthquake shook eastern Indonesia this Friday, unleashing a tsunami warning, which was lifted a few hours later, announced the United States Geological Institute (USGS).
"The first tsunami warning is over," confirmed the country's National Geophysical Agency, on its Twitter account.

The agency had also recommended the evacuation of all the populations affected by the earthquake, althoughor there is evidence of casualties or property damage.
According to the United States Geological Survey, an earthquake of magnitude 6.8 and a depth of 17.5 km hit the Gulf of Tolo off the central coast of Sulawesi Island. Indonesian authorities have launched the tsunami warning.
The earthquake occurred months after the devastating 28 September earthquake north of the island of Sulawesi, killing more than 4,000 people.
