Libya: A fierce battle broke out near Tripoli and several civilians are already dead

A violent battle It has been going on since Friday between forces loyal to the Libyan national government of Fayez al-Sarraj and rebel militias Khalifa Haftar around Suani, a town located about 25 kilometers south of Tripoli.

According to sources and media on the ground in the Libyan capital, since the beginning of fighting, at least five civilians died, including a pregnant woman and five houses destroyed.

Haftar forces, according to witnesses, they use artillery and rockets, while government uniforms oppose strong resistance, including heavy artillery.

The Libyan National Army (ENL) of Marshal Khalifa Haftar has launched an offensive since April 4 to seize Tripoli.

Despite the call by the European Union for the withdrawal of ELL forces from the capital, fighting intensified in the regions of Ain Zara, Wadi Rabit and Al Swani.

In the meantime, dozens of families have abandoned settlements about 20 km south of the capital, in the Al Swani region.
