The spokesman for Notre Dame said: "There will be nothing left of the historic structures"

While Paris firefighters are trying to extinguish the fire that raged a few hours ago at Notre Dame Cathedral, Andre Finot, spokesman for the church, said that "everything is in fire and that there will be nothing left of structures dating from the twelfth and nineteenth centuries ".

The French civil security agency said in its Twitter account that it would not use tankers – as US President Donald Trump recommended – that projected water by air "could make the whole structure collapse".

The spokesman of the cathedral added that despite the fire, objects of great historical value for Christianity were safe in the sacristy.

Emmanuel Macron, President of France, approached the place and suspended a press conference that he had scheduled at 8:00 pm. However, no official explanation of the fire has yet been given.

According to the French media, ecclesiastical authorities have managed to save the crown of thorns and the tunic of San Luis del Fuego.

In addition, the firefighters were able to save the church structure which, in the afternoon, was seriously threatened by the inability to extinguish the fire.
