The Capricorn Network has completed its first stage by uniting the provinces of Chaco, Formosa and Missions in Argentina with Brazil, across the border between the city of Bernardo de Irigoyen – in Misiones – and the Brazilian cities of Dionisio Cerqueira of the State of Santa Catarina and Barracão, in Paraná.

In a second step – which has already begun – the network will complete its trip west to get to Chile and connect to the Pacific through the Paso de Jama, connecting the Antofagasta region to the Jujuy province .

The companies involved in this new network are Silica Networks (Argentina, Brazil and Chile), Ecom (Chaco, Argentina), Ampernet Telecom (Brazil), Marandu Comunicaciones (Misiones, Argentina) and Refsa Telecomunicaciones (Formosa, Argentina).

The Capricornio network, with 15,000 kilometers of fiber optics, will "reduce by 50% the price of the mega-wholesaler", said during a dialogue with Telam Datco group president, Horacio Martínez, who participates in the initiative with his company Silica Networks.

The vice president of the state company Everyña Econ, Luis Einman, explained to Telam that "investment in the laying of fiber, technology, electronics and human resources that totaled the five companies exceeded $ 100 million.
