In a few hours, the tweet has been shared over 132,000 times and thousands of netizens have taken the opportunity to leave their messages about it, as well as hundreds of photographs of the iconic structure.

In addition, the young woman from Michigan, United States, told the BBC that she still had to identify the man and the girl in the photo, but that she hoped to achieve it.

Brooke admitted that she did not know for sure if the man and the little one were really father and daughter. "If it was me, I would like memory, I hope it feels the same," said Windsor, visiting with a friend in the French capital.

The flames, which devoured the cathedral, spread in a few hours and destroyed the wooden interior before dropping the needle.

"We are watching the fire in shock and anguished by the rest of Paris," the young woman told the BBC. Now, as France takes care of the disaster, her moving photo has been described as "historic" and as a "special moment" by Twitter users.
