At least 28 tourists, most of them German, died Wednesday in a bus crash on the Portuguese island of Madeira, after the vehicle had left the road and spilled into a house.
Sources from the regional government of Madeira confirmed EFE the number of victims who were traveling in a tourist bus victim of an accident in the city of Santa Cruz.
Filipe Sousa, Mayor of Santa Cruz, told local media that the dead are 17 women and 11 men.
The accident also left two dozen wounded, including the bus driver and tourist guide, of Portuguese nationality.
