The Catholic Church remembers St. Expedito, every April 19 throughout the world, patron and mediator of just and urgent causes.
According to those who studied the life of this saint, Expedito would have been born in the third century (his unknown birthplace could have been Armenia) and he would have had a military career: he was commander of the XIIth Roman Legion under the Emperor Diocletian. This legion also bore the name "Fulminante" because of a warrior feat that made her famous.
Betting on what would today be Turkey, the main mission of these soldiers was to defend the Roman territory from the Huns' attack. In the midst of his badignment, Expedito began to have more and more devotion to the Christian faith and, after some hesitation, finally decided to convert.
According to oral tradition, at his decision, a raven appeared before him and declared "Cras", which means in Latin "tomorrow". However, Expedito replied "Hodie", that is, "today," referring to the fact that he would not allow more time to adopt Christianity.
After that, Expedito decided to preach his faith to all his troops and defend all the Christians sent to the circus to fight the lions and be devoured by them, which angered the Emperor Diocletian, who given the order to kill him.
