The Argentine pediatrician who won a gold medal in Switzerland for his new invention

"Geneva Inventions" is a prestigious exhibition of inventions that takes place every year in the city of Geneva, and which brings together inventors from different regions of the planet. In the last edition, number 47, there was an Argentine doctor who won a gold medal for his ingenious and useful creation: a set to observe the neurological development of babies.

Lelis Hayipandelli is the name of this pediatrician, who received important recognition last week in Switzerland. In dialogue with
THE NATION, explains what the winning product, named Evaset Baby is: "It's a whole set of different objects allowing parents to watch with activities such as a game the neurological growth of their baby. " You can observe the motor and visual space month after month, auditory and cognitive and consult the specialist in a timely manner. "

The set is divided into two small suitcases. One that has the elements of stimulation, games and evaluation to use with babies from 0 to 12 months and another for children from 12 to 24 months. It derives from a method used by pediatricians called Cat Clams, but it is modified and adapted so that parents can use them.

After more than 15 years working as a pediatrician, this UBA doctor in 1998 found that parents or teachers were often consulted because they saw different situations in the neurological development of three- or four-year-old boys. "Why could not that be observed before?", Hayipandelli reflects.

"Neurodevelopmental disorders can be detected several times during the first few months of my life, and I thought that many families did not have access to the pediatrician or had not specifically consulted him. then I had the idea to do this set, "says the specialist. He shares his professional time between his private practice in Belgrano and the Otamendi clinic's neonatal care department.

According to the pediatrician, early detection of a developmental disorder allows "to initiate early treatment, which is most important for the good prognosis of the child and family".

The price

The set intended for the observation of the neurological development of babies has been awarded in Geneva in the category "Didactic materials and methods". "In total, there were about 540 inventions on the whole show, compared to about 15 in my category," says the winning pediatrician. The jury that evaluated each of the creations was composed of 88 members in each category according to their specialties.

Hayipandelli said that the day the awards were awarded, the name of the invention and the prize – or not – won by each of them were glued against the wall. Like the results of an examination. Of all the people who observed whether they had received a mention or medal, she said that when she saw the price obtained at the end of her test, she started screaming. : "It's gold! It's gold!".

At the exhibition, the pediatrician was accompanied by Eduardo Fernández, director of the Argentine School of Inventors (EAI) and the
Argentine Forum of Inventors (FAI). Fernandez's support was a fundamental guide for Hayipandelli to arrive in Switzerland and obtain his achievement. "My brother put me in touch with Eduardo, who told me that there was an annual event where the world's most important inventions came together." He helped me to every step necessary to be able to access the exhibition. "

But in addition to the support of Fernandez and EAI, pediatrician Hayipandelli received the selfless contribution of the parents of their little patients. "They helped me to design the logo, the brochures, the letters of presentation, as well as all the material in English that I could present at the show and many other things, everybody collaborated", he said with joy.

In addition to the prize awarded at the 47th International Invention Exhibition, the pediatrician and inventor received the "Award of Creative Merit and Inventiveness", presented by Dr. Farag Moussa, Honorary President of the International Federation of inventors' badociations. In addition, she received the "Gold Medal for Inventive Merit", awarded by "Organization of Egyptian-Swiss Communities".

"I am very happy," confesses the doctor, "I was frozen to have got all these awards."

Currently, the winning product of the gold medal in Switzerland can be obtained from the same doctor or
