The Paris police chief said the authorities had arrested more than 200 people in the early afternoon and carried out random inspections of more than 20,000 people trying to enter the capital to participate to the demonstrations.

Macron plans to announce next Thursday the new measures taken by the government to meet the demands of "yellow vests".

After canceling the speech of the fire of Notre Dame last Monday, he will do it at a press conference at the Elysee.
