US urges citizens to "reconsider" travel plans in Sri Lanka due to terrorist threat

The government worn this Friday at 3 – on a maximum of 4- his level of travel alert for Sri Lanka because of the terrorist threat and urged his citizens to "reconsider"Travel plans in the Asian country.

In the alert, issued by the State Department, The United States ordered the evacuation of all family members of school age US officials in Sri Lanka.

In the alert, the United States warned that "Terrorist groups continue to prepare attacks in Sri Lanka"This can happen without notice in tourist places, transport centers, markets, shopping malls, hotels or clubs.

Also in government facilities, places of worship, major sporting and cultural events, parks, hospitals, airports and educational institutions.

The United States also warned that they had a "limited capacity"for"provide services"to its citizens because of the security context.

The last 21 Easter Sundaysuicide bombers attacked three churches and three luxury hotels in Sri Lanka, leaving 253 dead and around 500 wounded. The jihadist group Islamic State (ISIS, for its acronym in English) was awarded after the attacks.

Attacks of this magnitude have not occurred in Sri Lanka since the Tamil guerrilla civil war against the government, a conflict that lasted 26 years and ended in 2009, and in which, according to the UN data, they lost their lives over 40,000 civilians.

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena said today that she has detected at least 130 people suspected of having links with the IS, 70 of whom have been arrested.

Still today, at least three people were killed (including one civilian) and three others were injured in a series of explosions and firearms shootings between security forces and an armed group allegedly linked to attacks.
