Brazil: they stop the "Loro Narco", the mascot who warns if the police come

Authorities kept a favela in the state of Piauí when the animal alerted the owners of its presence.

The operation took place on Monday, April 22 in the favela of Vila Irma Dulce, in the Brazilian state of Piauí, according to local media reports. The Battalion 17 Military Police was in the area to keep the community by approaching one of the houses where they thought they saw a man buy drugs. The animal began to say, "Mom, police!"

The troops, surprised by the behavior of the parrot, decided to search the home of the woman "La India", known for its drug trafficking. The authorities arrested her with her husband, a man identified as Edvan, aged 30, who had been found with four packets of crack.

The 16-year-old marriage girl was also detained during the operation because they found her marijuana. She was however released after appearing before the judge conducting the investigation.

Regarding the bird, Lieutenant Mayor Mello, one of the officers involved in the raid, explained: "He must have been trained for this. As soon as the police approached, he started shouting. "The animal stopped talking by the time he was surrounded by officers.

The Brazilian press announced that the animal had been transferred to the Teresina Zoo, the state capital, where it will remain for three months until it learns to fly and can return to its natural habitat. The name of the bird did not extend, so the Brazilian press dubbed it as the parrot drug traffickers.

This would not be the first time that they use animals to commit drug trafficking offenses in Brazil. In 2008, the Rio de Janeiro police reported the case of a drug dealer who had used several crocodiles to devour his competitors. B.D.N.
