The leader of the People's Party, Pablo Casado, acknowledged that the result of his training had been "very bad" in the Sunday elections celebrated in Spain and he attributed it to the fragmentation of the Conservative vote, by the emergence of the far right Vox and the liberal The citizens.
At a hearing without questions after the release of the election results, which was a debacle for the PP, match with which Mariano Rajoy he ruled for nearly seven years and lost more than half of his seats, Casado called on Vox and Ciudadanos to "unite" in the face of the local, regional and European elections that took place at the end of May.
Regarding the situation in which the PP remains, was convinced that the party will be "hard and mature" and announced that he would start working tomorrow "with enthusiasm and responsibility" recover support.
"The fragmentation of the vote has been much punished," lamented, warning: "all parties, we must also badyze whether the confrontation with the PP was worthwhile", in a direct recrimination to Citizens and Vox.
He recalled that he had proposed to these two parties to unite in face of these Sunday elections, but his offer – he acknowledged – was rejected.
The PP will meet tomorrow with its National Executive Committee, which will include the Regional Presidents, to: make a "detailed badysis" of the election results, according to Casado, who confirmed that from now on, the party would focus on supporting candidates in the next elections.
