Crystal Smith, a freshman teacher, was fired after hitting a girl from Bluejacket-Flint Elementary School in Shawnee, after finding her hiding in a bookshelf in the library, according to the newspaper.

The video shows Smith taking the girl out of the hiding place and leaving her on the floor. Then he comes back and kicks the girl, an act contemplated by another teacher.

School officials discussed the episode by examining the images from surveillance cameras, after the girl's mother filed a complaint on February 21.

According to the New York Post, the woman discovered red marks on her daughter's arm and questioned her about her origin. "I do not like my teacher, she is very bad, she hit my arm," was the answer of the girl.

The educator has been on mandatory leave since then and "has never been in contact with students," said school district spokesman David Smith. Finally, Crystal was fired on March 25th. "No child should have to live this," said the spokesman.
