Israel attacked alleged Hamas terrorist group installations in the Gaza Strip in retaliation for the launch of balloons loaded with incendiary bombs and explosives, the armed forces informed Thursday.
According to the same source, after these attacks, there were two "launches" – perhaps rockets – from the Palestinian territory to Israel.
According to the armed forces, the night attack was carried out against what Israel has described as Hamas's "military complex" in the northern Gaza Strip. At the present time, no injuries or material damage have been reported.
In recent months, hot air balloons with incendiary bombs thrown into Israeli territory, which caused huge fires in agricultural areas, have become commonplace.
Israel and Hamas negotiated a precarious cessation of hostilities following the Israeli general elections on 9 April.
However, on Tuesday, Israel has significantly reduced the fishing limits imposed on Gaza Strip vessels, apparently as a result of launching a rocket from Palestinian territory.
Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza have already waged three wars since 2008.
