The Spanish government has assured that it will not hand over Leopoldo López

The Spanish government said Thursday in a statement that it had no intention of making the Venezuelan opposition leader. Leopold López after the warrant of arrest issued by the Supreme Court of justice of Venezuela.

In a statement, the Madrid executive states that "Spain does not intend to hand over the baton to the Venezuelan opposition leader.and adds that Lopez, his wife, Lilian Tintori, and their 15 – month – old daughter "are of their own free will in the residence of the Spanish ambbadador in Caracas".

Spain, adds the official note "He hopes the Venezuelan authorities will respect the inviolability of the residence of the Spanish ambbadador."

The Spanish Government recognizes that the arrest warrant issued by the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela "is an expected judicial movement".

The Venezuelan court ordered Thursday to capture López, who felt that he was making fun of his home detention Tuesday.

Lopez, who on Tuesday backed an ephemeral military uprising against Nicolás Maduro's government in the streets of Caracas, rescinded the house arrest measure for "flagrantly violating it," according to a statement from published by the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ).

The High Court notes that the opponent deprived of liberty since 2014 and sentenced to almost 14 years, he also violated "the measure mentioned in the condition relating to political declarations by means of conventional and unconventional, national and international means of communication".

Spanish Foreign Minister Josep Borrell told Efe a few hours earlier today that López is a "guest" in the residence of Spain's ambbadador to Venezuela after his house arrest and "is not a safe haven" until they clarify "the steps to follow".

"According to Spanish law, asylum applications must be lodged in Spanish territory.Mr. López is not therefore an asylum, he is simply invited by the Embbady until he that it clarifies the steps to follow "Borrell said in Amman, where he goes.

He stated that López "has not filed an asylum application, which, in addition to the wording, should be made from Spanish territory in accordance with our legislation".
