Venezuela had another day of chaos and confrontation. One woman died and there were at least 50 wounded after Bolivarian military forces repressed protesters who had demonstrated in different parts of the country.
In the last few hours, the Venezuelan Observatory of Social Conflict (OVCS) reported on his Twitter account that a woman died in a clinic in Caracas after being shot in the head while she was in prison. she was taking part in a demonstration against Nicolás Maduro's government.
According to the EFE agency, at least eight people were reportedly injured in riots around the "La Carlota" military base. And in the municipality of Chacao attended, at least, 46 people. Municipal Health Service President Maggia Santi explained that all the injured were out of danger, including the two gunshot wounded.
In addition, another 20 people were hit by shots, 13 suffered various injuries, five suffered a heart attack and three were hospitalized for respiratory problems due to tear gas used by the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB).
Moreover, the National Union of Press Workers (SNTP) said that about ten journalists were also injured during the coverage of protests in Caracas and in almost all 23 states of the country.
From the political team of the self-proclaimed president, Juan Guaidó represented at least 78 wounded throughout Venezuela. The NGO Penal Forum, which heads the defense of Venezuelan political prisoners, has reported more than 168 arrests since the protests began last Tuesday.
Another day of chaos
The incidents occurred for the second consecutive day, after the rebellion of Leopoldo López and Juan Guaidó, during which they urged the population to turn around in the street against Maduro as part of the operation "Libertad" .
At an event gathering thousands of activists, Maduro said the two leaders were working for "the US empire." "We just defeated the conspiracy on the right," he said referring to Wednesday's protests.
The protests provoked riots in several areas of Caracas, where the army and police threw tear gas canisters at protesters, who fought back with stones and Molotov badtails.
Like last Tuesday, the GNB deployed several tanks in the area of La Carlota airbase to support its deterrent action.
In the midst of incidents in the streets of Venezuela, Guaidó sent a message to his followers. He badured that he would continue to "free" the so-called political prisoners of the country, after managing the release of López.
"We will continue to release political prisoners, such as Juan Requesens, Gilber Caro," said the opposition leader to hundreds of supporters east of Caracas, near Petare, the largest favela from Latin America. "We are stronger, more determined," insisted the MP.
