Leopoldo López: "Today, Maduro can not trust or serve coffee"

The military intervention in Venezuela is an option still present in opposition to the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro, because it is a legal alternative that contemplates the Constitution, explained this Thursday in an exclusive interview with EFE the leader of the Voluntad People's Party Leopoldo López.

"We do not exclude any scenario that is in the Constitution and the Constitution provides that it is a possibility. I hope that we will not be obliged to reach this point, but we do not rule out, because it is constitutional, because freedom is the condition of everything else ", Lopez noted.

For the Leader of the Opposition, who remained under house arrest until released by a group of soldiers and officials from the Bolivarian Intelligence Service (Sebin) last Tuesday, the problems of the country will be solved only "freedom will be conquered".

"And we will be the Venezuelans who will succeed in putting an end to the usurpation. We must thank and acknowledge the support we have received from the international community. President Juan Guaidó has been recognized by 58 countries. There has not been an international coalition for the cause of liberation with so much international support since the Second World War, "he said.

Lopez badured that "nothing prevents us from using the constitutional legal tools to try to achieve freedom, because freedom in Venezuela is measured in number of deaths", because "Every day that pbades is a day when children die of malnutrition, hospitalization, insecurity."

On the opposition's support among the military, he stressed that a large part of the uniforms of the armed forces are on the side of the cause of the opposition.

I consider that The most important hurdle to reverse right now is "fear," who believes, began falling last Tuesday when he led a military uprising with Juan Guaidó, recognized by fifty countries as interim president.

The opponent, who badured that "several conversations took place" with prominent members of Chavez, of which he did not provide the names, he said that Maduro was surrounded by people in their "most intimate environment" who want to "get out of power".

Despite not ruling out international military intervention, he insisted that "It must be a peaceful process that does not resort to violence but relies on the strength of the people and the army."

Asked about the uprising last Tuesday, he explained that he understood it as "a day during which we of course had to send a clear message in favor of the accession of active officials with the capacity to carry out actions ".

This day, Guaidó and López, a few hours after their release, led a military uprising to unleash a movement in the barracks to overthrow Maduro., that although he did not have a great echo among the uniforms, has multiplied the rumors about loyalty to the chief agent.

"Today, Maduro can not trust or serve coffee. He knows that his own environment wants him to come out, he knows that his own environment is in talks with us at all levelsand he knows he has to claim control, "he said.

In the opinion of Lopez, "the rupture" of the Maduro government "will continue", as well as international pressure.

López was arrested in 2014 and sentenced to 14 years in prison, accused of carrying out acts of violence in the anti-government marches that took place this year.

The adversary served his sentence for nearly three years in a military prison and the rest remained under house arrest until his release Tuesday.
