One doctor infected 65 children and 25 adults with HIV

A doctor from the Pakistani city of Larkana was arrested Thursday on charges of transmit HIV to at least 90 people, including 65 children. Kamran Nawaz, chief of police, said that the doctor suffers from the disease and he used a single contaminated syringe infect his patients.

"According to the health authorities, the detainee I injected medication with a single syringe, "explained Nawaz.

The doctor's procedure was revealed after blood tests of 18 children living on the outskirts of Larkana who tested positive for the AIDS virus. The unusual fact ignited alarms and leads health officials to conduct more in-depth badysis.

"More than 90 people, including about 65 children, they were HIV positive"said Dr. Abdul Rehaman, Larkana District Health Officer.

Provincial Health Minister Azra Pechuho said that the parents' blood was badyzed"But his results have been negative."

Pakistan is considered a country with low HIV prevalence. But AIDS is on the rise, especially among drug users, bad workers and immigrants from the Gulf countries.
