It's something that many people do without thinking too much, but washing raw chicken can have serious consequences.

The CDC tweeted: "Do not wash your raw chicken! The wash can spread chicken germs to other foods or cooking utensils."

Many people on Twitter have been surprised by the tips.

As expected, and in the rough waters of the most epic social network, thousands of users have come out to follow the body's recommendation.

Some people even said that they would continue to wash the pollo when it came out of the package and in the raw state.

In response to the feedback, the CDC went on to explain the reasoning.

"We did not want them to be upset not to wash the chicken!"replied the agency via the social network.

"But it's true: kill the germs by cooking the chicken thoroughly, without washing it, you should not wash poultry, meat or eggs before cooking them."

"Everyone can spread germs throughout the kitchen, do not improvise in food safety!", condemned the CDC in its last message on Twitter.
