Venezuela: kill four soldiers and two policemen

Four soldiers and two policemen were killed yesterday by unidentified people in the state of Aragua, in northern Venezuela. A police report said the dead soldiers are Brigadier General Jackson Silva Zapata, director of the Vocational Training School of Venezuela's military aviation; Sergeant Robert Leon Castellano, Second Sergeant Angel Brito and First Corporal Robinson Vizcaya Sojo.

The fallen policemen were identified as Bruno Benavides and Jesús Arraiz.

Initial reports indicated that the soldiers had been ambushed because they had been summoned after a "terrorist attack" in the area.

"On their return, they were intercepted by heavily armed individuals who had not yet been identified and who, without using words and taking advantage of the relief of the region, shot at them," the report said. , adding that "exchanges of fire took place, reversing a unit and leaving four military officers and two police officers without vital signs".
