Palestinians say they agreed to a ceasefire with Israel in Gaza

Palestinian officials announced the signing of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Israel end the recent wave of violence in the Gaza Strip and southern Israel.

Thanks to the Egyptian mediation, the ceasefire came into effect from 4:30 local time. (1H30 GMT) said on condition of anonymity a leader of the Islamist Hamas movement, controlling the Gaza Strip, and another of the Islamic Jihad's ally group. An unnamed Egyptian official also confirmed the agreement.

A second Palestinian official confirmed that an agreement had been reached, as well as a Hamas-owned television channel, the Islamist rulers of Gaza.
